Fiber Arts Friday: The Plumber Sweater is Complete!

I really can't believe it.  I even had a different post planned for today, but after 15 months and 10.25 skeins of alpaca yarn, the Plumber Sweater is complete!  [Cue Audience Applause]

Once I got past the first few decreases, the rounds started going quite fast and I became obsessed with finishing.  Finally having to put it down with less than 3 rounds to go because I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Now, a couple of days later the rounds are completed, the bind off is completed, the Kitchener stitched armpits are completed, all of the ends are woven in and I can't really believe it.  I just want to sit here and stare at it.

My very first knitted sweater is complete!  Isn't it pretty?  ;-)

If you're interested in the sweater's progress here are links to part 6, part 5, part 4, part 3, part 2 and finally the reason why it was started.

I'm very happy to have this sweater completed and excited to give it to our neighbor, I sure hope it fits.

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!  Please head over to The Wonder Why Gal's blog and see what the others have been up to.

Congratulations on the sweater! I always feel like opening a bottle of sparkling wine when I finish a big project ... it just seems to deserve it!

Congratulations! I have yet to start a sweater. Was it scary because I'm sort of intimidated. I have one in queue so perhaps I should just jump right in.

Yours is beautiful, by the way.

@It's_Lily - this sweater was easy to knit. Only knit and purl stitches in the round. So it was like knitting a very large hat.

It got a little boring while working on the body because it took so long to see progress. But I personally like the look of simpler garments.

@Spinster Beth - wine would have been a good idea, but I could only just admire it. Next time I'll have the wine ready. ;-)

It's your first sweater and you're giving it away!?!? I'm incredulous. Looks great, though.

It's great that you finished your sweater! I know your neighbor is going to be really surprised when you present such a fabulous gift. A stellar job in a beautiful color for a plumber, something he could wear with anything.

Thank you for visiting my blog and congratulations on your first sweater! I like your living simple idea, sharp contrast from what people do in the bay area ;-) look forward to reading more about it!

HOORAY! and big applause! I am so happy and I can't wait to see how your neighbor loves it because it looks amazing! Now you have really inspired me to kick it into high gear and finish mine. I have a Herd Health Seminar to attend Saturday so I believe I will get a lot done then...hopefully.

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!

@Word Lily The sad truth is, if I were making the sweater for myself, it wouldn't be anywhere near complete.
