- They're relatively quick to make. It takes me about a week to knit a simple pattern, if I'm able to work on it every night.
- They're very portable. Since I travel a lot for my day job, this is a major plus.
- There are so many patterns to choose from. Just do a google search for knit hats and see what I mean.
I'm working on Anna's Flat-Toppped Hat by Knit with KT now.
I'm using an Organic Merino DK Single with #7 needles. I cast on 84 stitches.

I never seem to get hats right. Always to big or too small for my head.
Hats are fabulous like that, aren't they? Like you, I love how quick and portable they are - and, living in Minnesota, we spend a LOT of time in hats :)
@Dutch Hollow - I had a lot of issues with sizing hats too and was given this advice a while back which has helped alot.
* Knit 18 inches for a measured 22 inches
* Plan for 20-30% stretch
* That's why knitting a swatch is a good idea ;-)
@Kate - I'm in MN alot. I love seeing the hats and scarves that ppl wear there.
I like the stitch pattern on your hat. I find that hats can be addictive...almost instant gratification. Thanks so much for commenting on my blog. I'm so glad Andrea is introducing us all to each other.
I love the small kid/baby hats too. I can knit them and not get frustrated.
I really have got to learn to knit in the round. I want to knit hats, too! You make it seem really fun ...

@Jessecreations Go for it! The only real tricky part is to make sure the cast on is straight when you first stitch it together. Then you basically just keep on knitting. :-)
