Fiber Arts Friday: First Socks are Progressing

Taking a page from the Wonder Why Gal herself, I brought my first sock to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) last Friday.  It was September 30th.

Yep, I went to the DMV on the very last day of the month. I had used up my grace period so it was my last chance to remain in compliance. I brought my sock because I figured I would have plenty of time to work on it.

The only thing is, our local DMV office is fast, efficient and friendly. There were 25 people ahead of me and I was in the office for perhaps a half-hour. I thought for sure I would be bound off and well within sock number two, but it was such a short wait that I only finished two rounds on the ankle.

The actual very first sock in all of it's glory!

I did finish it over the weekend though. Hubba put it on, put a big smile on his face and then tried to establish an Estimated Completion Date for sock #2... Two weeks. :-)

Aside from the little bit of DMV time and Knit Night, I have not had much time for fiber this week.  So I'm not sure I'll have the second sock finished in within the two week deadline, which would be next weekend.

I hope you all are having a great day.  Be sure to visit the other Fiberistas who have linked in for Fiber Arts Friday and tell them how awesome they are.

It's my first time to see the words "fast, efficient and friendly" in the same sentence as DMV ;-) Your sock looks great. Somehow I think it's very funny it stands up, does it walk?

I think it's a Colorado thing -- our DMV folks are incredibly friendly and helpful, too. And I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes. Sock is looking good! Hope his mate goes as smoothly!

Nice! I love hand knit socks, it's wonderful that your husband appreciates them. I imagine he will like them even more when the snow and winter weather arrives.

@Vivian - having previously lived in Los Angeles, I can tell you that the California DMV is not fast, friendly nor efficient. ;-)

I also think it's funny that the sock stands up on it's own. It is a magic sock, you know.

@Paula - it's nice to know that other offices are also helpful and friendly.

Nice sock and here's hoping you are as "fast and efficient" as the DMV so you can make hubby's deadline.

Happy Fiber Arts Friday!!

Love the socks! Yes, isn't it irritating when you hope to knit and the customer service is actually efficient ;-)

Good luck getting them finished.

I can get a LOT of knitting done at the doctor's office!

Lovely autumny colors :)

Your sock is fab. Isn't it funny how knitting changes your expectations of waiting? I'm always sad when I get called shortly after I sit down in the doctor's office waiting room.
