Cria Watch 2013

We've been closely watching Apple for the last few weeks.  She is our only pregnant alpaca this year and she is a first time momma.

She is due in about three weeks and is definitely uncomfortable.  I have some ideas about when she will deliver, but I've been wrong before so I am keeping that to myself.  ;-)

    She has really nice fleece colour, doesn't she! I'm curious...can you kind of guess what colour they are going to be if you know the lineage, or not really?

    Hi Natalie - to a certain extent, I believe the answer is yes. But it's not something I have studied.

    I enjoy reading Life with Alpacas by Oak Haven Alpacas. Cara has many posts about her breedings by color and what the expected result should be. http://lifewithalpacas.blogspot.com/

    Apple is Light Fawn, her momma is White and her poppa is Silver Grey. Apple is bred to a Medium Brown. It will be interesting to see what color comes out, but I'm always happy for healthy and very happy for girls. :-)
